Wednesday night, Towards the morning, I dreamed, that L. M. St. came to me the next day, and showed me all the kindness I could ask. And that Thursday he did come, and was very kind towards me. Somniis tamen haud multum fido.

Source & context

Laud records a dream on the night spanning August 3/4, 1636, and says the visitor came kindly on Thursday. The closing Latin qualification states that he nevertheless puts little trust in dreams. That caution remains in the original wording, not removed or replaced by a claim of verified precognition. The initials L. M. St. are not expanded.
