I dreamed of all being in a Military Flame, Major Walley on foot Led an extraordinary Troop of Horse: I heard Col. Noyes at Prayer with another Company of Soldiers.

Source & context

A complete firsthand military scene. Immediately before the dream description, Sewall says a waking report of a Swedish plan concerning Scotland brought the previous night’s dream to mind. That association is source context, not evidence that the dream predicted an event. The historical footnote is not another dream. The 21 April 1717 entry recalls “my last night’s Dream”; the original calendar is retained.

Public domain in the United States (original published edition) ↗

Original nineteenth-century English diary publication, dated from the actual title-page witness rather than the generic archive metadata. The publication predates 1931 and Samuel Sewall (1652–1730) and the original publication committee are long deceased. This uses an expired-US-publication basis, not a modern transcription or new Creative Commons licence; no blanket worldwide grant is asserted. This record's title-page date is 1882; archive metadata's generic 1878 date is not used.
