« Je crus voir, en rêve, une jeune fille vêtue à l’antique, qui jouait sans se faire aucun mal avec plusieurs morceaux de fer rougis au feu. Chaque fois qu’elle y touchait, de longues flammèches demeuraient un instant suspendues à ses doigts, et quand elle frottait ensuite ses mains l’une contre l’autre, il en jaillissait une pluie d’étincelles qui s’éparpillaient avec bruit. »
