Saturday night, I lay in Court. I dreamed that I put off my rochet, all save one sleeve; and when I would have put it on again, I could not find it.

Source & context

Laud records a short, complete personal dream within his original English diary. A rochet is a clerical vestment. The dream spans one page break, not two reports; the surrounding manuscript-gift entry and editorial footnotes are outside it. January 31 is printed under Old Style 1628, distinguished as 1628/29; no normalized modern date is assigned.

William Laud (1573–1645), own original English diary, The Works of the Most Reverend Father in God, William Laud, vol. III: Devotions, Diary, and History (Oxford: John Henry Parker, 1853), edited by James Bliss, Diary, printed pp. 209–210. Original-edition witness: Internet Archive. Printed dates and author qualifications retained; descriptive title and navigation themes added by Synastry.

31 January, printed Old Style year 1628 (1628/29); the original calendar is retained.

Connections in the Loom

Titles, theme labels, illustrations and map connections are editorial navigation aids. They are separate from the account’s words and do not establish connections between real people.
