A few years ago, I see myself in a dream in an imaginary shop on the rue Castiglione: I recognize it as one where I had previously made purchases; I speak with the shopkeeper, who recognizes me as one of his customers. On awakening, the image of this shop remained so strongly engraved in my thoughts that for a moment I believed I had transported myself in a dream to a very real shop; I then recalled perfectly the earlier visit I had made there, and yet this memory was surrounded by circumstances whose absurdity revealed a pure dream. A little reflection was enough, moreover, to convince me that the shop was wholly imaginary, and I did not find it in the street where I had imagined it.
