Un numero in testa che continuavo come a ripetere in maniera ossessiva ma che stranamente cambiava anche sempre, ogni volta che provavo a ripeterlo come prima. Tipo un numero tre due cinque sette nove, una cosa del genere però non era sempre lo stesso numero: era come se fosse un codice di un tappeto. Però era anche un numero di telefono. Io non vedevo immagini, non sentivo voci, non avevo sensazioni particolari, sennonché un numero, un numero a cinque, sei cifre che mi continuavo a ripetere.

Source researchers verified transcripts, redacted identifying names/places, pruned commentary and false starts/repetitions, normalized punctuation/spelling/regionalisms and spelled out numbers. No local prose edits, translation, trimming or new redaction; all released whitespace and [NAME]/[PLACE]/[INSTITUTION]/[MISS] markers retained.
