Volonté sous forme de désir. — « Je me crois dans une rue déserte. Je vois une femme assaillie par deux assassins masqués. Je n’ai rien pour la défendre. Je pense à un long yatagan qui orne la cheminée de mon cabinet de travail. Que ne l’ai-je sous la main ! À peine ce vœu est-il intérieurement formé que je me trouve armé de cette terrible lame, dont je fais l’usage le plus heureux. Par cela même que ma pensée s’est arrêtée fortement sur cet objet, l’image s’en est aussitôt montrée, et cela s’est effectué si naturellement que je n’ai reconnu ce qui s’était passé dans mon esprit qu’après m’être éveillé. »
