HOUSE SYSTEMS

Whole Sign

Whole Sign assigns the entire rising sign to the 1st House and each following sign to the next house. The exact Ascendant remains an angle within the first sign.

The idea in context

The entire zodiac sign containing the Ascendant is the 1st House. Each following sign forms the next house, with cusps at sign boundaries.

MAKE IT CONCRETE

An example to picture

With an Ascendant at 18° Virgo, all of Virgo is the 1st House; Libra is the 2nd House. The Midheaven need not be in the 10th House.

How to read it

Start with the rising sign, count signs in zodiac order, and read the exact angles separately from the house boundaries.

A common misunderstanding

Whole Sign does not round your Ascendant to 0°. In Draconic display the already calculated cusps rotate too; they are not snapped back to sign starts.

BRING IT BACK TO YOUR LIFE

A question to sit with

How does separating an exact angle from a whole-sign house change the question you ask of that area of life?

How to read it

Each house spans 30°. The Ascendant retains its exact degree inside the 1st House. The Midheaven remains a distinct calculated angle and need not fall in the 10th House.

Input and calculation limits

An accurate birth time is still needed to determine the rising sign. A birth near a sign change can change all house assignments. The supported Vedic D1 view uses sidereal Whole Sign bhavas.

Compare one choice at a time

Changing the house system changes cusps and may change house assignments. It does not move the planets through the zodiac. These are interpretive frameworks, not measured personality traits or predictions. Private chart settings do not change dating compatibility.
