The traditional topic

Eros is the Venus-associated Lot in this seven-Lot scheme. It concerns desire, attraction, affection and the bonds that draw people toward people, activities or experiences. Its formula uses Spirit, connecting the topic of attraction with the scheme’s point of intention.

Arabic name and planetary association

سهم الحب (sahm al-ḥubb). This is a descriptive Arabic translation of the topic, not a claim that all historical authors used this name. The displayed identifies the associated planet, Venus. It is a planetary association, not a distinct ancient Arabic glyph for this Lot. The planet associated with a Lot and the ruler of the sign containing it are separate parts of a reading.

Day and night formulas

Using the Paulus convention, day: Ascendant + Venus − Spirit. Night: Ascendant + Spirit − Venus. All terms are zodiac longitudes; wrap the final answer into 0°–360°. Fortune and Spirit in these formulas mean the Lots already calculated for the same chart’s sect.

How to read the placement

Explore what feels inviting, pleasurable or worth moving toward, then ask how you choose to relate to that desire. Romance is one application; friendship, art and enthusiasm for a pursuit are others. The sign is a symbolic lens for your experience, not access to another person’s feelings.

An example to picture

If you feel drawn to a creative group, Eros can prompt questions about what attracts you: shared values, beauty, recognition or companionship. Visiting once and noticing how you feel provides useful information. A placement cannot tell you that a particular member is a destined partner.

A common misunderstanding

Eros does not measure sexual compatibility, consent or whether someone loves you. Different historical formulas for Eros also exist; compare the named method before comparing a result from another calculator.

A question to sit with

What are you drawn toward, what need does that attraction illuminate, and how can you pursue it with reciprocity and respect?
