Nakshatras and padas

Twenty-seven equal lunar mansions divide the sidereal zodiac, and each nakshatra contains four padas.

Calculation boundary

Each nakshatra spans 13 degrees 20 minutes (13°20′) of sidereal longitude. Each pada spans 3 degrees 20 minutes (3°20′). Synastry uses half-open boundaries so an exact boundary belongs to the segment beginning there, avoiding duplicate assignments.

What a pada adds

Each pada carries a Navamsha Rashi tone. The app explains that quarter without pretending the pada alone is a complete D9 chart.

Timing connection

The Moon’s nakshatra supplies the starting ruler for Vimshottari dasha. Exact dasha dates require a separately audited balance-at-birth and year-length calculation.
