What a house is
Houses divide the chart into life settings. House systems draw their boundaries differently using the same birth information.
The idea in context
Houses are 12 time- and location-dependent chart sectors bounded by calculated cusps. A planet’s house identifies the symbolic life area where astrological tradition considers that planet’s themes; it is not another zodiac sign.
